“Why wait when the results are obvious? The Port Coquitlam Downtown LED Street Lighting Pilot Project, started in February, 2010 is demonstrating an energy/cost savings of 50% and that there was a total acceptance of LED street lights by the public and downtown businesses. Considering the initial pilot results, Port Coquitlam is now requiring that all new street lights installed in the City be LED systems. With help from our good partners at BC Hydro, we hope to soon convert our existing 3,600 street lights to LED lights, which will help meet our sustainability targets for energy and GHG reductions.“
